JIBC Submission Guidelines

JIBC Contributing Editors

JIBC depends on a prestigious core group of authors and Contributing Editors to identify and analyze the trends and latest developments in Internet banking and commerce.

We look for individuals who are exploring issues and possibilities in their "days jobs" and who are willing to share some of their key findings with JIBC on a quarterly basis. As a Contributing Editor, your contribution could be your own insights and analysis of developments that attract your interest. It could also be as simple as asking permission for JIBC to post an article or report (or an executive summary of a report) that you feel is of significant interest to a colleague or a peer.

The role of a Contributing Editor does not require a significant time commitment. Our thinking is that if you come across something exciting, you will probably be sharing the news electronically with friends and colleagues. As a Contributing Editor, you could simply add JIBC Editor Nikhil Agarwal to the list when you send out such really significant messages. Since we only want a contribution about every three months, you could also just pick the most significant of your recent mailings when it comes time for the next JIBC submission. If three months go by with nothing that really strikes your fancy, just advise the Editor that you haven't come across anything you think is really worth our readers' time and we will pass in that particular edition -- there is no pressure to publish for the sake of printing.

You individually or you and your company will be identified (with email/URL links) on each contribution. JIBC typically appeals to a very high-level, global audience. There is significant value in being regularly presented to this audience as a credible and knowledgeable professional in this emerging field.

We are keen to have you on our Editorial Board. JIBC usual practice is to invite the prospective editor as author. Once you have published the paper, based on positive feedback, we would invite you to serve on our Board.

JIBC Peer Review Process

JIBC strives to achieve the fairest process of the anonymous peer review for all research articles.

JIBC key peer-review policies include the following:

  • No article will be rejected without taking into account the advice of a practicing scientist in the field.
  • No suitable article will be rejected on the grounds of article length, or lack of space.
  • Every effort will be made to ensure that at least one of the three peer-reviewers for each article is selected from a list provided by the author.
  • Where appropriate, a suitably qualified researcher will be nominated by the Editorial Board to act as Expert Advisor for a particular article, so as to advise on or resolve issues arising during the peer review process

All submitted manuscripts that request peer review are evaluated as follows:

  • Initial editorial screening.  Manuscript submitted in DOC, PDF or xHTML format are screened by the JIBC Chief Editor to ensure that they fall within the scope of the Journal as defined in http://www.arraydev.com/commerce/jibc/guides.htm#CallForPapers. The authors will be notified whether their manuscript falls within the JIBC scope, sometimes to facilitate re-submission of a more suitable article.
  • Submission to referees.  The manuscript is sent to 3 referees. As indicated in JIBC Submission Guidelines http://www.arraydev.com/commerce/jibc/guides.htm#SubmissionGuidelines, all authors must also suggest 3 referees, providing their position, scientific credentials, and full contact details, including email address.  Only one of these three referees will be usually contacted to provide an anonymous review.  At least two sets of referees comments will be utilized.
  • Initial editorial decision.  JIBC Chief Editor re-examines the manuscript in light of the recommendations made by the referees. One of the following decisions will be made:
    • Accept as received
    • Accept, subject to satisfactory completion of minor amendments (an editorial report is usually included at this stage)
    • Reconsider after major revision (full revised manuscript requested)
    • Reconsider after major revision (response to referees comments requested prior to preparation of a full revised manuscript)
    • Reject

Please note that the manuscripts are judged not only on the presence or absence of flaws to the work but also on the likely contribution to the field. Those manuscripts that represent only a small incremental increase in the respective knowledge base will not be accepted, irrespective of whether the work has been conducted in a sound manner.

  • Revised version or response sent back to referees as appropriate.  JIBC Chief Editor reserves the right to make a decision on the manuscript without consulting the referees for a second time.  Members of the Editorial Board might also be consulted at this stage.  A final decision is reported back to the authors as quickly as possible.
  • Referees are thanked and given the opportunity to view the final decision.  Once a final decision has been made regarding a manuscript, it is also Bcc'd to referees who would view all the anonymous referee reports for that manuscript.

Articles in the Opinion Articles (Non-Peer Reviewed) section are based on sole opinion of the author(s). JIBC Editorial Board is not responsible for peer-reviewing the articles in this section.

Submission Guidelines

  1. JIBC accepts both original articles submitted by their authors and previously printed/posted material submitted WITH THE PERMISSION of the copyright owner. Before submitting your article (or the item you have permission from the copyright owner to submit), contact Chief Editor Nikhil Agarwal at nikhil.jibc@gmail.com.

NOTE: Materials submitted to JIBC will be posted on the JIBC Web site and distributed by email to JIBC subscribers. Copyright remains with the original author(s) who retain control over any subsequent use of the material. Anyone seeking permission to reproduce material that appears in JIBC will be referred to the original author(s) or the copyright owner. JIBC and ARRAY Development neither endorse nor necessarily agree with views expressed by contributors.

  2. We prefer articles that focus on issues, trends, initiatives and case studies rather than on technical details. Technical details are relevant only when they support new processes, bring about new ways of doing business, build a customer base, convert site visitors into paying customers, retain customers, or upsell products and services or provide supplemental sales. We are particularly interested in hearing from contributors that focus on Internet purchasing, banking, transaction processing, marketing challenges, implementation trials, and other issues of timeliness in all aspects of Internet-, EDI-, and XML-enabled ecommerce.

  3. While articles should be a maximum of 1,500 words, shorter is better. A good way to keep your article short is to focus on one issue. Save your other ideas for subsequent or separate articles. Extensive background material, large graphs and detailed tables should be posted and referenced to author's own Web site and cited in the text.

  4. You must also provide a 150 to 200 word abstract of your article. You may also consider submitting your abstract to the Social Science Resource Network (http://www.ssrn.com/) which distributes abstracts of journal articles to over 14,000 subscribers around the world. See http://www.arraydev.com/commerce/jibc/guides.htm#JIBCSubmissionTemplate for submission instructions.

  5. We ask that authors check their article on the Web site to ensure no text has been lost in the posting process. JIBC reserves the right to edit letters to the editor.

  6. Your article will be posted on the Web site as soon as we receive it after the text has been reviewed and approved by the JIBC editorial board.

  7. All authors must suggest 3 referees, providing their position, scientific credentials, and full contact details, including email address. Only one of these three referees will be usually contacted to provide an anonymous review.

  8. JIBC reserves the right to reject any article without explanation.

  9. Articles that promote a particular product or service rather than providing analysis or evaluation will be referred to the JIBC advertising department.

One of our goals is to identify knowledgeable individuals in each key subject area and geographic region willing to serve as Contributing Editors (see http://www.arraydev.com/commerce/jibc/guides.htm#ContributingEditors). We look forward to working with you. We are attracting an audience from among the professional elite in the emerging field of Internet purchasing. Your articles will help JIBC make an important contribution to the transfer of knowledge on a global scale. We would also be interested in you recommending leading experts that you consider to be well positioned to become our contributing editors, and we would appreciate if you check with us first and describe why this person would be a worthy addition as a Contributing Editor.

We look forward to working with you

Nikhil Agarwal, Chief Editor

JIBC Submission Template

All finally submitted articles should be ready to be placed on the Web in the PDF format with a minimal additional effort required from the JIBC editors to convert the file from the DOC or RTF formats. Please use Microsoft Word or any other word processor to save your file in the RTF or DOC (MS Word ver. 6.0) format.  See below detailed instructions on how to submit your article and download JIBC Submission Template to use it to present your article to the Chief Editor for consideration and review.

Specify in your covering letter whether it should be peer reviewed or has been submitted for inclusion in the Opinion Articles section.

Instructions

  1. Copy the JIBC Submission Template into a new document and name it YourName.doc (where YourName is the first author's Last Name).

  2. Replace the "Title," "Your Name," "Your Email Address", "Copyright Holders Names", etc. with the article's title, your names, your email addresses, etc.

  3. The title page, abstract and keywords should be placed on separate pages.  Next begin your text on a new page.  Ensure that text fonts used are Ariel, 11 pt, that paragraphs are justified, as is done in the template, and that bold text is only used where the template allows it. Please do not use words in all capitals or bold font anywhere in the text, headings, labels or names, unless our template asks for it. Tables and figures should be inserted in the text where they are deemed relevant (and not at the end of the document).  References should begin on a separate page.

  4. Please pay close attention to a sound layout of your text.  If you use formulas, special layouts, or tables/figures in the landscape format, ensure that your special requirements work well after you saved the final document.  The editors reserve the unconditional right to ask for changes in layout, to ensure good readability and presentation.

  5. All references should be done in the APA style or if required according to the Citation Guides for Electronic Documents.  A sample APA reference style is inserted in the template.

  6. Send an email to nikhil DOT jibc AT gmail DOT com with the attachment in the DOC or RTF format. Please do not zip the file or the attachments.

  7. Your article will be posted in the PDF format as soon as it is received and approved by the Editorial Board.
